And because open borders are amazing, a short daytrip to the Czech Republic is always possible. Tisa Walls (yes, that's a hiking path snaking through those rocks) and Pravčická Archway in Bohemian Switzerland.
Taking a break from nature to stroll through the surprisingly colorful streets of Sebnitz, the town I'm based out of for this week.
You'd think you get tired of the views but you really don't. Beautiful weather (and not too hot) for a roughly 13k hike in the middle of the Saxon Switzerland national park.
One of Germany's most epic views in one of Germany's most beautiful regions: Bastei bridge in the National Park "Sächsische Schweiz", Elbsandsteingebirge.
Hiking in Hinterhermsdorf, Obere Schleuse in the Kirnitzschklamm right next to the Czech border - as in: the left side of the river is on the Czech side, the right on the German side.
Madness! Roughly 2000 tons (each) of digging machinery, "Big Wheel" and the "Mosquito", two of the brown coal mining engines displayed at the Ferropolis museum/open air venue/camping ground. Even got to climb one!
